Coach of the Guyana national Junior Squash team, Carl Ince speaking with Kaieteur Sport recently said he believes former Caribbean champion Alex Arjoon is one of our strongest contenders in the Boys segment.
Ince, who along with Robert Fernandes has been busy preparing the team for the upcoming Championships in Barbados from July 15-20, felt that Arjoon is a big hope for Guyana in the Boys division despite his limited preparation due to academic commitments, which according to him must take first preference.
He added that Arjoon’s vast experience at the regional tournament should give him the edge against many of his opponents, but cautioned that there are some players with just as much familiarity and skill, who could pose a threat to his quest for top honours.
Steven Xavier
He, however, mentioned that in the Under-15 category, there are some very talented players and Steven’s task will be a formidable one.
Nyron Joseph
“I would say that presently Nyron is playing very well, but his category is going to be very tough,” Ince reported.
Jason Ray Khalil
Raphael deGroot
The problem is he has always been unfortunate to come up against players with far more exposure than him. Some of them campaign in England and their experience in playing in tournaments is far more superior.
What I can say is that he has improved immensely and to add that to his fitness, he should do well.
– This is his final opportunity and it is only natural that he would want to end it with a solid performance. – “In my book he is still one of the most talented players and although this year is anticipated to be tougher, I still expect him to do well,” Ince indicated.
– He is one of the players who will be making their debut at this tournament and someone who could be considered as having a reasonable chance of doing well Ince informed.
