Women weeding the conservancy aback of Mocha Arcadia yesterday stumbled upon an elderly man who was dehydrated.
The man was rescued by police ranks who were informed and taken to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre.
Sharon Berry, who was one of the first persons to see the man, said that she and several other weeders found the naked man lying near the canal.
“One of dem boys went walking with a dog a lil way from where we were weeding and he come back and tell we ‘y’all come see wha I just see,” Berry said. She added that she and the other workers immediately went back to the location where they found the naked man.
“We went and get clothes fuh put on pon he because he de trembling,”
She said the immediately contacted the Mocha Police Outpost. She said that given the distance of the police outpost from where the man lay, the police took a little while to reach the location. The man was immediately placed in the vehicle and rushed to the hospital where up to press time was still being treated.
There were reports that the man may have been the missing United States citizen, Rumel Jobronewet whose relatives were immediately informed of the discovery.
However, when they arrived at the Diamond Hospital they said the elderly man was not the missing person.
Up to press time the man was still unidentified. The few residents of Mocha said that they have no idea who the man is since there is no missing person in the area.
