They say that when it rains it pours. This old adage could not have been more firmly endorsed than yesterday when organizers of this weekend’s boxing card received another timely monetary contribution to offset the huge expenses incurred in the promotion of the card.
Following closely on the heels of substantial donations by three Water Street businesses on Wednesday last, two other organizations have acquiesced to further contributions.
Yesterday morning, representatives of the Scotia Bank in Carmichael Street and Ansa McAl of Industrial Site, Beterverwagting ECD, handed over checks of varying amounts to the successful promotion of the card.
Marketing Director of Ansa McAl, Troy Cadogan made the presentation on behalf of his Company.
He reiterated his organization’s commitment to the development of local sports while exuding confidence that this weekend’s card would produce the anticipated excitement. “I am assured that fans attending the show would get their money’s worth as the fights all appear to be competitive,” Cadogan said. He wished the promoters all the best even as he recommitted to future support.
Manager of Products and Marketing of the Scotia Bank, Jennifer Cipriani-Nelson made the presentation on behalf of her organization at the Bank’s Carmichael Street headquarters.
She pointed out that despite the late request for assistance, the executives, in keeping with their corporate duty, and after a determination that the card was indeed worthy of support, acquiesced to the request. “From all indications, this card appears to have been well organized and is set to provide great entertainment,” Cipriani-Nelson observed. She subsequently wished the promoters success in their endeavours.
President of the Guyana Boxing Board of Control, Peter Abdool once again expressed heartfelt gratitude to the management of both organizations.
He reiterated that such support could only serve to propel the sport in the right direction.
Head of the S&S Promotions, Mr. Stanford Soloman also expressed deep gratitude to the sponsors.
