The 2009 Spready’s Bakery Under-19, 50-Over Cricket Competition organised by the Berbice Cricket Board, continued recently and was highlighted by a number of outstanding performances.
Highlighting the matches was the fine all-round performance of Kelon Sinclair of Gibraltar/Courtland who firstly, opening the batting against Big Star slammed 67, including 13 fours, which helped his team reach 254 for 9 in their 35 overs.
He later came back with his medium pacers and took 3 for 35 to assist in dismissing Big Star for 140.
Other good batting performances came from Blairmont Community Centre’s Sudesh Mohan, who made 76 and Dineshwar Ramkissoon 57, who helped their team to an 85-run victory over Bath Aditya. Lakeraj Sookra also scored a half century for De Edward.
In the bowling department, medium pacer Ameer Rahaman took 5 for 11 from 8 overs, and together with pacer Jermain Henry’s 3 for 15 from 8 overs helped Young Warriors bowl out West Canje for a paltry 52. Warriors won by 8 wickets.
National Under-19 player Seon Hetmyer also showed some form with both bat and ball for Young Warriors, as he prepares to participate in this year’s regional Under-19 cricket series in Jamaica next month.
