Girls aged 12, 13, among five arrested

After countless reports to this publication from neighbours about a Guyhoc house being used as the venue for a sex ring involving underaged school girls, yesterday the police became involved and five persons were arrested.
Three were schoolgirls, aged 12, 13 and 19, while the two men are aged 19.
However, after several hours of interactions with the parents and the youngsters, the police were prepared to issue charges of carnal knowledge and statutory rape but that will not happen.
Late yesterday afternoon a police source said that all five have been released and the matter is now a non-issue.
While the police were ready to charge the men, the mothers of the young women reportedly asked that they be let off with a warning, as they did not want to face the embarrassment in the public domain.
This is a source of concern for police ranks, generally, one police officer said. Some report that there are many incidents like this one that end up a non-issue.
About 13:30 hrs yesterday, the police were alerted that some schoolgirls were in a Guyhoc Park house as regular practice, engaged in sexual activities and weed smoking.
Ranks swooped down on the scene and found three youths, two females and a young man, sitting on a fence while the front door to the house was locked.
They arrested the three based on earlier reports, but their efforts to have the occupants of the house open the door failed.
The ranks then went around the back where they caught a 19-year-old whose name was given as ‘Bull’ as he was attempting to escape over a fence.
A police source said, “He go to run away, but was arrested and offered information that the 13-year-old girl, clad in a pair of tights and brassiere was hiding behind a neighbour’s fence.”
While the police did not find her there, minutes later she and a 12-year-old were intercepted. At the time she was being transported by a 12-year-old girl on a bicycle away from the house. All five were taken to the East La Penitence Police Station.
The 13-year-old had entered the house in her school uniform, but was reportedly stark naked engaging in sexual activities with the 19-year- old “Bull” when the police arrived on the scene.
The police interruption led to the teenager hurriedly pulling on her tights and brassiere while a half-naked “Bull” bundled her out of the house through the back door.
A neighbour noting that it is a regular practice at the house, said, “Bull bring her through the back door and put her to hide over the fence in her brassiere and tights and she stoop down.”
It was then that the 12 year-old collected her on a bicycle and as they were riding off the police intercepted and arrested them.
Upon arrival at the Guyhoc location, a man from behind a window reported that “nobody big is at home,” and advised “check back in about 15 minutes.”
Minutes later a woman was seen walking along the pathway to the house. She said she had heard of people being arrested and had come home to find out what had happened. A dreadlocked man who sat on a veranda across the way, beckoned her and shouted that the police had taken away her son and a female by the name of Keisha.
The same information was relayed to her by the man behind the window and she took her head in her hands.
This publication then visited the school attended by of one of the girls, in South Georgetown. There, a senior teacher informed that details are sketchy and that the school will investigate the matter.
She said too that she had earlier received a telephone call from a mother who informed her that a female student of the school had indeed been arrested.
The senior teacher said that the mother called while her daughter was sitting in the police vehicle and was told that the teen, a student, had been arrested along with several others and that the police wanted her (the mother) at the station.
The teacher reported too that the mother also informed her that she was not going to any police station.
When this publication visited the Ruimveldt Police Station, a dreadlocked woman confirmed that her daughter was among the five arrested but had no further comment.
Reports are that “Bull” has the keys to a neighbour’s house and that he and his other male friends entertain school-aged girls during school hours.
It is also reported that the countless young women and men meet at that location daily and engage in sexual activities and weed smoking, much to the disgust of some neighbours.
A police source said that their hands are tied as law enforcers when parents decide that they want the matter to end. Another police source said that even if the matter is taken to court, it would be thrown out for want of prosecution, as in most cases the victims are not willing to testify.
No statements were taken at the police station from of the parties involved. One police officer stated that “the lawlessness will continue.”
