President’s Press Liaison Officer, Kwame McCoy, has denied comments attributed to him in an article captioned, “We don’t have to announce all of Jagdeo’s trips.”
He said that the article “is completely misleading and it would appear as though my comments were deliberately twisted, which highlights a trend over the last few months.”
Over the weekend, Kaieteur News reporter, Gary Eleazar, did question McCoy about the whereabouts of the Head of State, Bharrat Jagdeo and whether the Office of the President, and not the President as was announced by McCoy, had an obligation to announce his overseas travels in advance of leaving Guyana.
McCoy did confirm that President Jagdeo was in Canada attending the Guyana Festival and reminded that the President generally reports on his overseas engagements, but does not necessarily always announce his departure in advance of leaving Guyana .
Kaieteur News is standing by its article.
