Horseracing lovers are assured of an action packed day of exciting races when the Norman Singh Memorial Turf Club (NSMTC) stages a one-day meeting at the Club’s Bel Air #6 Village, West Coast Berbice, on Sunday July 19.
Several top horses from the country’s leading stables would be competing for lucrative cash prizes and entries for the meet close on July 12 at the club’s office.
The feature race brings together the C & Lower Class horses battling over a distance of 1700m for a top prize of over $350,000. There will also be the race among the 3-year- olds in the open category. Horses that are West Indian as well as Guyana bred would be competing for honours in this race. The winning jockey rides away with $200,000.
Horses would also match strides in the 2-year-old open over 1000m for a $200,000 purse, while the F and lower class would compete for a first prize of $150,000, over a distance of 1200m.
Other races are the G&H and Lower for a $130,000 prize over 1200m, while the I and Lower class battles over 1200m for a first place prize of $110,000. The Unclassified Division 1 & 2 competes over 1200m for a purse of $95,000. The final race of the day will witness horses in the Unclassified Div 3 battling over a distance of 1200m for a winner’s purse of $85,000.
Jockeys and trainers are reminded that they must possess a valid GHRA licence in order to participate. The owners and trainers are also advised to enter their horses through Mr. Ghansham Singh at telephone 649-3636 or Mr. Lionel Moonsammy at telephone # 614-5812. The organisers also wish to remind horse owners that late entries would not be accepted.
