Relatives of 56-year-old accident victim, John France, are pleading with the female driver who allegedly caused his death in the Broad Street accident, to turn herself in.
France, also known as ‘Early Bird’, of Lot 5 Henry Street, Werk-en-Rust, died last Friday at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) after he was struck by a car, which was allegedly driven by a woman.
Another man, Anthony Paul, 21, sustained a fractured right leg in the mishap.
A niece of the dead man, told Kaieteur News that France had attended a funeral shortly before his demise.
Anthony Paul, of Ketley Street, Charlestown, told Kaieteur News that he was standing on the Broad Street parapet and France was sitting on a pile of lumber near him, when a car turned from Ketley Street into Broad Street at a fast rate and struck them.
France sustained multiple injuries and died shortly after.
According to Paul, he fell to the ground and was unable to identify the occupants of the car. However, there are reports that a man and a woman were in the car and that the woman was driving.
France’s relatives alleged that the woman fled the scene. Police have reportedly been unable to locate her.
The relatives are pleading with the woman to turn herself in, or for persons with information about her location to contact the police.
