Dear Editor,
I am writing on behalf of a comrade and friend, former Director of Social Services, Ministry of Human Service.
This administrator has an unblemished record and has served in the said capacity for the past seven years.
As a dedicated citizen, having completed his Doctorate studies in 2002, he returned to serve his country, and was absorbed within the Ministry of Human service as the Director of Social Services.
Around the third week in March 2009, this administrator was sent on six weeks’ leave.
Even though he sought an explanation, there was none, not from Ms. Manickchand or any other personnel within the Ministry, as to the reason/s why he was sent on leave.
While on leave he received a letter, stating that he should report his resumption of duty at another Ministry.
(As absurd as it sounds, that is what actually transpired!), and to add insult to injury, rumours are being fabricated and circulated that the said administrator was involved in some sort of “fraud”
If Ms Manickchand cannot respond to this letter and show a case of mismanagement/ embezzlement/fraud or any other wrong doing by the former Director of Social Services, then I think it’s a clear case of vindictiveness by someone.
Was the administrator being the no nonsense person he is, in the way of preventing public funds from being channeled otherwise? So forces had to be joined to replace him with someone who is a “puppet?”
Come on Ms Manickchand show us you are not among those fabricating the rumours; show us you are above board with valid reasons why this highly qualify, professional and straight forward administrator transferred.
Is this the way to reward a dedicated worker whose only “fault” was that he worked far beyond the call of duty to safeguard the interest of this government and his fellow Guyanese?
