Head of National Association of Agricultural Commercial and Industrial Employees (NAACIE) Kenneth Joseph, said that he is confident that talks will now run smoothly with the Guyana Power and Light Company.
The Union met with the company last week, and from all indications, all negotiations are likely to move ahead.
This, he said, is a result of the utility company hiring a new Human Resources Manager.
Joseph said in the past, all negotiations were not running as they should, since the company was without a Human Resources Manager.
Some of the outstanding issues between the utility company and the union, include the separation of workers from the company among others which are yet to be resolved.
He said as of the beginning of this month a Human Resources Manger was hired.
Back in September 2008, the Human Services Manager, Ms. Donna Tucker had her services terminated.
According to the woman, no just cause was given to her for the termination of her service after serving in the capacity for some five years.
Ms. Tucker had moved to the courts to sue the utility company for damages. The woman had also sought the intervention of Prime Minister, Samuel Hinds.
According to a letter from the utility company, Ms. Tucker’s services were terminated because of ‘poor performance’.
