Several areas will start their Inter-Block football tournaments organised by the Ministry of Culture Youth and Sports in the coming weeks, while several others would have completed their assignments.
Ann’s Grove open their activity this afternoon with one match at the Dochfour ground. Punters are down to challenge Waterside from 4:00pm in that encounter.
According to Parliamentary Secretary in the Sports Ministry, Steve Ninvalle, areas including Plaisance and Vryheid’s Lust combined of the East Coast, Mabaruma and Hosororo of the interior will open their programme in the early part of next month.
Meanwhile, the prizes for the Grove event were recently handed over to the respective outstanding performers.
Sports Minister Dr. Frank Anthony handed over the prizes at his office last week. Grove North won their area tournament and collected the winner’s purse and trophy. Dominic Garnett was voted the MVP and Orson Francois the highest goal scorer, all receiving prizes.
The ministry is hopeful of including basketball to the Grove event next year.
