The Inter-Ward basketball fraternity announced the various individual award winners that were assessed from the recently concluded HJTV and Lens Craft Championship ahead of the event’s Presentation Ceremony on Saturday.
The awardees were identified announced yesterday and they will collect their prizes after an All-star game between 2009 champions, North ‘to the world’ (North Ruimveldt) and the leading stars during the Inter-Ward Championship.
Ifill deservedly walked away with the Most Valuable Player (MVP) accolade for his 162 points, 67 rebounds and 23 steals.
Ifill represented North and scored more than 20 points with a highest score of 30 in each of his games.
Ifill will receive the Go Moseley Productions trophy and $20,000 for his efforts. Captain, Darcel Harris got the Most Assist and Most Steals awards with 18 assist and 26 steals in the seven games that he and Ifill contested.
Kitty/Campbellville’s guest player from Linden, Jason Alonzo, who will play on the All-star team on Saturday copped the Most Block Shots prize with 13 blocks from two games and will most likely add to those in the game.
Guinness ‘Reach for Greatness’ are sponsors of the Alonzo and Harris trophies.
The stalwart statistician, Dennis Clarke compiled the stats for the individual awards from the sheets he received following each game of the competition.
