Essequibo Inter County players Wayne Osborne and Roopnarine Persaud hit contrasting centuries as their team Sans Souci defeated Sans Souci Jaguars by 215 runs when the Sterling Products 40 overs cricket competition continued at the Wakenaam Community Centre Ground in Good Success.
In a match which was reduced to 36 overs, Sans Souci won the toss and batted and were off to a good start as Wayne Osborne and Heera Sukram put together 105 for the first wicket before Sukram was caught for 41 in the 18th over.
Persaud then joined Osborne and the pair continued to bat beautifully taking the score to 215 in 28 overs.
Osborne, who was dropped in the first over, played some lovely shots both sides of the wicket and brought up his century with a flick to mid wicket for two.
He was eventually caught by Zaheer Mohamed off left arm medium pacer Narendra Bhagpattie for 146 which included fifteen fours and eight sixes.
Persaud on the other hand was severe on anything too short or full and reached his triple figure with a six over mid wicket. He departed for 104 (10×4, 6×6) in the penultimate over as Sans Souci closed on 366-5, Bhagpattie took 2-61.
The Jaguars were off to a bright start as openers Zaheer Mohamed and Gladwin Henry posted 30 in 5 overs before Mohamed was caught off Varounie Sasepaul for 17.
Essequibo Under-15 batsman Zameer Zaman with 25 and Bradley Whyte 15 were the next best scorers as the Jaguars, who missed some of their key players, were bowled out for 151 in 35.4 overs.
Nokta Moses was Sans Souci’s best bowler with 3-26 while Vickram Ramnarine and Roopnarine Persaud supported with two each. (Zaheer Mohamed)
