Underdog won the Wakenaam Nite Management Committee and Banks DIH X-tra White Independence Domino competition by defeating All star and Gun down in the final, which was keenly contested last Tuesday, at the Wakenaam Community Centre Ground.
Underdog totaled 87 games with Salim Chand scoring 16, David Ramlall 15 and James ‘Baka’ Ramnarine 13. All star finished second with 81 games. Their leading player was Khemraj Surujpaul who marked the maximum 18. He was supported by Motiada Persaud and Raj Narine with 15 and 14 games respectively.
Gun down came third by scoring 56 games. Vickraj Ramdhani chalked 15, while the lone love bird was Ravi Persaud of Gun down.
Meanwhile, Gun down qualified for the final by winning the fist round ahead of All Star and Seashore. Gun down made 81 games, with their captain Ramdhani making 15. All Star and Seashore were tied at 74 games each, but the former got the edge into the semi-final by making more sixes, while Seashore exited the competition. Vijay Persaud and Suraj Harnarine scored 18 games apiece for All Star and Seashore respectively.
The semi-final was contested by All Star, Underdog and Melville. All Star came out victorious with 76 games followed by Underdog on 75 and Melville 72.
Satnarine Singh was All Star’s leading player with 16 games, while Krishundat Hansraj (15) and Kalid Zaman (13) played well for Underdog and Melville respectively.
Underdog collected the winning trophy and eight bottles of X-tra White rum, while All Star took the runners’ up prize and eight bottles of X-tra White.
The man-of-the-match was Khemraj Surujpaul of All Star and the MVP was Vijay Persaud also of All Star.
