Shivnarine Orilall grabbed 8-13 as his team Golden Fleece defeated Zorg by 9 wickets in the South Essequibo “one day” two innings cricket competition which continued recently at the Golden Fleece Ground.
In Zorg’s first innings, which was limited to 20 overs, they were all out for 61 in 16 overs, with Ravi Singh getting 16. National U-15 player Vijay Surujpaul took 5-10 off 4 overs.
Golden Fleece in reply made 96 all out in 18.4 overs. Surujpaul returned with the bat to top score with 29 while Ganesh Parbattie made 18.
Rajesh Wellington took 6-15 for Zorg, who were bowled out for 37 in 10 overs in their second turn at the crease with Orilall doing the damage with the ball.
Golden Fleece in their second innings won the game with 9 wickets to spare.
Coach, Forbes Daniels told Kaieteur Sport that the competition has been organised as part of the South Essequibo cricket development programme.
