Guyana will host the fourth regional Blind Cricket tournament from July 19-25.
The teams participating in this year’s tournament are: host country Guyana, Barbados, the Windward Islands, and current joint champions Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica.
West Indies Cricket Council for the Blind, Trinidadian, Bhawani Persad said that for the first time there will be a league trophy and a challenge trophy to be contested by the two top teams in the league. The final will take place on Saturday 25th and the DCC and Malteenoes grounds are the possible venues.
At the end of this tournament a West Indies team would be announced to face Blind Cricket’s World champions Pakistan in three One-Day Internationals and one 20/20 game from August 4-8 in Trinidad.
The local players are continuing preparations with regular sessions at the GYO ground in Georgetown.
The Guyanese are being coached by West Indies Blind team Coach Bharat Mangru and includes leading B1 batsman in the region, Oliver Kerr.
