Good Success defeated Maria’s Pleasure by 184 runs, as play in Zone B of the Sterling Products 40 overs cricket competition continued last Sunday at the Wakenaam Community Centre Ground in Good Success.
The home team were asked to bat first on a track with some moisture. They lost two early wickets to leave the score at 12-2 in 2 overs. Nazeer Mohamed and Abdool Salim then came together adding 150 for the 3rd wicket. Mohamed, who brought up his 50 with a six over long on, hit 6 fours and cleared the boundary on three more occasions, before he was run out for 84.
Salim on the other hand, hit 2 sixes and 10 fours before he was run out, after batting with a runner for the latter part of his innings. He made 78. Imran Khan 27 and Chandreka Ragnauth 21 then saw Good Success to a challenging 265-6. The game was reduced to 35 overs due to rain. Leonard Bernard and Kennard Lewis took one wicket each for the visitors. Maria’s Pleasure began their reply in fine fashion, as opener Marsh Singh smashed medium pacer Chandreka Ragnauth for 3 fours in the first over taking the score to 12 without loss.
The right handed Singh was then caught at cover as he tried to hit Wazir Khan over the top in the second over. He went for 12. Emmanuel Lewis was the only other batsman offering any resistance with 18, as Maria’s Pleasure crumbled for 82 in 21 overs. Khan was the main destroyer for the winners with 6-13 off 7 overs. Good Success will now play Noitgedacht, who will also clash with Maria’s Pleasure to decide the zone B winner.
