Dear Editor,
Pastor Daniel Singh says I am in some sort of tag team. As usual, I guess, he is pushing hilarity over common sense (Guyana Chronicle June 1st).
He continues to write silly things about the fossil nicknamed “Ida” now on display at the Museum of Natural History in New York and to denigrate the scientific researchers responsible for the results of the find. Fortunately, most readers can check the facts for themselves.
I strongly recommend Pastor Singh reads the book, “Crazy for God” by the evangelical, Frank Schaeffer. It is available (along with readers’ reviews) on Amazon.com.
Recently, I was reading an article on seminaries and theological schools and the writer made the point that while some denominations of Christianity, like Catholics for instance, insist on a rigorous training and teaching by qualified theologians for their clergy, many others do not.
In fact, the writer says, many “schools” offering diplomas to would-be pastors are not even accredited by any Christian denomination. Apparently, there is a “diploma mill” for evangelicals wishing to be “qualified” pastors.
My curiosity is piqued by what Pastor Singh writes in his almost daily letters to the press. His missives might make more sense to me if I can put it into context.
So, would he be kind enough to tell us which denomination of evangelicals he represents, and from where did he get his credentials to be a pastor? Is he in charge of a church and if so what is the size of his congregation?
