Peter’s Hall and Eccles won the Boys and Girls titles respectively as the East Bank Demerara Zone of this year’s AL Sport & Tour Promotions/Ministry of Culture, Youth & Sport Regional Primary Schools Windball Cricket Championships continued on Monday, at Grove Play Field.
In the final of the Boys Division:
Peter’s Hall defeated Academy of Professional Studies (APS) by 28 runs.
Taking first strike, Peter’s Hall compiled a respectable 73-2 off the allotted 6 overs. David McBerth hit a top-score of 25 and he was supported by Michael Sultan, who added 16. Clinton Charles ended with figures of 2-7 off 3 overs.
APS chasing 74 for victory were restricted to 45-5 with Naipaul Aniroude 11, being the principal scorer.
Earlier, in semi-final play:
APS beat Covent Garden by 7 wickets.
Covent Garden batted first and made 50-4. Joel Phang contributed 14.
APS replied with 52-3, Naipaul Aniroude 39* with 5 sixes. Timothy Lyttle recorded the second hat-trick in the Region 4 Zone, ending with figures of 3-15.
Peter’s Hall registered an easy 8 wickets win over St. Anne’s.
St. Anne’s made 37-4. Rafael Bollers hit 15, while M. Sultan picked up 2-11.
Peter’s Hall in their turn at the crease reached 38-2 in 4.5 overs. C. Charles top-scored with 14.
In the Girls final:
Eccles scored a 4-run triumph over St. Anne’s.
Eccles, invited to bat first, made 41-2, with Paulette Josiah 10*, being the only player to reach double figures. Extras accounted for 21 runs. Tenisha Carrington grabbed 2 wickets.
St Anne’s in reply were restricted to 37-2. Extras contributed 14, while S Simmons made 10.
In the another semi-final, St. Anne’s won by 6 wickets over Covent Garden.
Covent Garden 35-3, Shontel Simmons 2-11.
St. Anne’s replied with 37-4. T. Carrington 12, Tashanna Gravesande 10. Karen Shultz captured 3 wickets.
The two winners will now join the other Zone winners.
