Dear Editor,

In my letter “How can chemicals suddenly decide to become live?” (Kaieteur News (20-05-09) Mr. Justin De Freitas responded (GC 21-05-09) by misquoting me and, based on a wrong premise, arrived at a correct, but irrelevant conclusion.

If Mr. De Freitas check the archives he would see that what I actually said was that the “science of spirituality”, and not a religion, follows the scientific method. There is a huge difference between the two and I stand behind my original statement.

Maybe a little clarification might be in order here. The science of spirituality as used here refers to that spiritual science which was practised by the Rishis or saints mentioned in the Vedas of the Hindus. It is a yogic science. It was also taught by the Hindu deity

Krishna to his disciple Arjune. It was practised by millions of people throughout our history including many famous figures such as Sai Baba, Gautama Buddha, Vivekananda and others and continues unchanged today.

Science is defined as: knowledge attained through study or practice. The scientific method is defined as: the formulation of a problem, the collection of data through observation, and the formulation, testing and confirmation of hypotheses. The spiritual science of Surat Shabd yoga, for example, as being practised today by hundreds of thousands of people worldwide, including Guyana, does embody all the elements of this scientific format.

The results are verifiable for each individual who undertakes this task. Most of the work is published in spiritual science literature. At its head is Sant Rajinder Singh, a research scientist, and President of the World Fellowship of Religions.

Religionists, non-religionists, agnostics, atheists and most anyone with an open mind and a sincere desire for truth are accepted into its fold.

For those critics and armchair philosophers who may say all of this has to do with the mind, my question to them would be: have you tried it, if not, how do you know?

Now for a few brief comments on the evolution side of the debate though I would prefer to call it an honest exchange of opinions with mutual respect.

If evolutionists insist that life evolved from non-life, or even from a piece of pre-historic rock, it does not diminish us because it would take an Intelligent human working with a pre-fabricated Design in his man-made lab to do it.

In his letter (Kaieteur News (25-05-09) Mr. Arnold Chance claimed that the questions posed by me have finally been answered and yet in that same letter the words “could have” were used three times which indicated uncertainty. The same pattern followed in the report itself. Anyway Dr Sutherland deserves great credit for his innovative work. I also watched “The Link” on the History channel and it was great research as well.

In Mr. De Freitas’ letter (GC 21-05-09) he suggested that I browse amazon.com for evolution books and that I will “undoubtedly find the answers” I am looking for there. Yet in an earlier paragraph in that same letter Mr. De Freitas admitted that science has not closed the deal in relation to the formation of life and that it is a work in progress and also there are “more questions than answers”. This being the case, more evolution books will not do it for me.

Most of my questions have already been answered in the “Path of Masters” by Dr Julian Johnson, a one-time Christian missionary who quit Christianity and became a full-time practitioner of the spiritual science aforementioned.

The Christian establishment at the time succeeded in suppressing his work but later, through the magic of amazon.com, copies of the book are now available to the public. Molecular biologist Michael Denton wrote, “The tiniest bacterial cells are incredibly small, each is in effect a veritable micro-miniatured factory containing thousands of exquisitely designed pieces of intricate molecular machinery, made up altogether of one hundred thousand million atoms, far more complicated than any machinery built by man and absolutely without parallel in the non-living world.”

This alone coupled with the complexity of the information inherent in the DNA molecule would suggest a supreme being or a master designer, if you will, at the cosmic keyboard.
