Rohan Mangal won (the maximum) 18 of his team’s 81 games, to pilot South Better Hope to championship honours, when the Independence Domino competition, organised by the South Turkeyen Sports Committee concluded at Shem’s Hideout, ECD, on Friday last.
Machine Domino Team scored 79 games, while Shem’s Team tallied 77 games to occupy the second and third places, respectively. Roland Stephney scored 15 games for Machine, while Frankie Harris (17) and Shemmy Waddle (15) were the principal scorers for Shem’s team. The winners received a trophy donated by Mr. G. DaSilva of Go Invest and a cash prize donated by Prime Minister Samuel Hinds.
Meanwhile, the South Turkeyen Sports Committee staged an Independence Day of Sports, also on Independence Day, in the Vryheid’s Lust area.
The winners of the various events received prizes donated by Sports Minister Frank Anthony, Director of Youth and Sports Neil Kumar, Retired Major Keith Lovefield, Dr Keith Quairn and Retired Brigadier Edward Collins.
