Three cleaning staff from the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, were in police custody last night, for allegedly stealing cell phones from a technician and a patient.
A hospital source, said that the staffers, two women and a man, are employed by a firm that is contracted to GPHC.
The women were first arrested last Thursday for allegedly making off with two mobile phones, belonging to a technician. They denied the allegation, were released, but were re-arrested yesterday, after an eyewitness implicated them in the theft.
Kaieteur News understands that the male suspect stole a third cell phone yesterday, from a patient in the Accident Ward.
When suspicion fell on him, he attempted to get rid of the item by throwing it through a window.
A source said that the phone was recovered.
