A Better Hope, East Coast Demerara family, is seeking help from what they say is beastly treatment of a relative, who they claim is a presidential guard and resides in the same home with them.
Yesterday, promoter Darmen Ramnarine, of 82 Better Hope Road, East Coast Demerara, said that the person is his nephew (name given) who beats up family members ‘like crazy’ and attempts to put them out of the home where he is ‘merely staying’.
According to Darmen, the young man began acting like a bully since he became a presidential guard several months ago and would mercilessly beat his uncle, Robby Ramnarine, who is fragile ‘and not too well’.
Darmen related, that whenever his nephew sees Robby around the home, he would pounce on the poor man, raining blows with his fist and would even kick him after he falls to the ground.
According to Darmen, he is often jerked from his sleep in the mornings by Robby’s screams as a result of the attacks in the home.
This presidential guard occupies the upper flat of the home, while Darmen, his wife and two children reside in the lower flat in which Robby also stays.
According to Darmen, every attempt to make peace has failed, since their tormentor has become overpowering, mean and indifferent. He said the man would sometimes attack him (Darmen) and often attempted to put them out of the house.
According to Darmen, after creating trouble in the home on every occasion, his nephew would hurry to the Sparendaam Police Station and make reports that tell quite the opposite of what actually transpired.
He added that to date, his brother Robby has received three police medicals for injuries he sustained as a result of the beatings, but ‘nothing has happened’ ,somehow, Jagdish has always managed to ‘smooth things out with the police’.
Darmen said, Jagdish continues to make life hell for the family and boasts everyday that since he is a presidential guard, ‘the law cannot touch him’. Darmen is hoping that authorities can look into their plight and help in resolving the matter. The accused could not be located for a comment on the issue.
