Kennard’s Memorial, Gibraltar/Courtland and No. 52 Survival also through
Number 69 Vikings, Kennard’s Memorial, Gibraltar/Courtland and No. 52 Survival won their latest preliminary matches in their respective Zones to book places in the last 16 play-offs of the New Building Society (NBS) Berbice Challenge Second Division 40-over cricket competition.
Opening batsman Wazim Ally slammed 105 (14 fours and 1 six) which together with 58 from Krishna Narsingh, helped No 69 Vikings reach a daunting 302-4 off just 30 overs against No. 64 Moonmen in Zone M. Off-spinner Naresh Prashad then took 7-10 to rout the Moonmen for 49.
In Zone N, Michael Kendall 96 not out, (3 fours and 10 sixes) guided No. 52 Survival to 241 for 5 in their allotted 32 overs against No. 47 Pioneer. He then came back with his off-spin and took 4 for 21 from 6.4 overs to restrict No. 47 Pioneer to 197, despite a fine 73 from Deewan Singh.
In Zone H, Gibraltar/Courtland firstly inflicted a 174 run defeat on Sand Reef, thanks mainly to John Percival 81 and pacer Devon Marks (5 for 36 from 7 overs). In their other match, Fyrish managed to bowl them out for 168 but medium pacer John Percival took 4 for 13 and offspinner Travis Williams 3 for 15 in turn bowled out Fyrish for 76.
Zone K winner Kennard Memorial’s 190-run win over Mibicuri Strikers was owed mainly to Doodnauth Ramnarine’s 67 and off spinner Sumesh Mangru’s 3 for 5 from 5 overs.
Also scoring half centuries were Jamla Crawford, Mahendra Sooknauth and Bisram Samaroo all of No. 43 Scorpion, Muneshwar Imrit of No. 48 Cavaliers, Alex Amsterdam of Scotsburg United, Tony McKenzie and Pooran Balgobin of Port Mourant and Kenton Grumble of Flying Star.

At Courtland, Gibraltar/Courtland beat Sand Reef by 174 runs. Gibraltar/Courtland 252 in 35 overs with John Percival 81, Seon Crandon 33, Fiaz Ally 3 for 33. Sand Reef 78 in 16.4 overs with Devon Marks 5 for 37.
At Courtland, Gibraltar/Courtland beat Fyrish by 92 runs. Gibraltar/Courtland 168 in 26 overs with Dwain Crandon 40, Michael Cummings 30, Kenrick La Fleur 3 for 29, Amir Hussain 3 for 33. Fyrish 76 in 19.2 overs with John Percival 4 for 13, Travis Williams 3 for 15.
