The Rotary Club of Felicity/Charlieville of Trinidad and Tobago, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Forsyth County of Georgia, District 6910, USA, has received a matching grant from Rotary International to provide 1,400 wheelchairs at a cost of US$120,000 for distribution to the needy, differently-able and senior citizens throughout Rotary District 7030, of which Guyana is a part.
The chairs have been sourced from the Wheelchair Foundation of the USA.
Through the partnership with the above mentioned Rotary Clubs, Rotary in Guyana will be the beneficiary of 110 of the wheelchairs.
Distribution will be done free of cost, through the Rotary Clubs of Guyana, to the most deserving cases.
The official ceremony for the handover of the wheelchairs to the recipients is scheduled for tomorrow at 09:00 hrs at AINLIM, Ruimveldt.
Rotarian Gayapersad, under whose stewardship as Charter President this project was initiated, and others of the Rotary Club of Felicity/Charlieville of Trinidad and Tobago will be here to witness the hand over ceremony.
