When stupidness was sharing some people tek all and dem ain’t lef none fuh dem boys. Last week Lewoy was twying to thief phone cwedit. He get ketch because he stupid. But dem boys believe that was a mistake because it impossible fuh a man to thief and people watching he.
Well dem had to change dem mind this week. He deh wid he confederates and one of dem talk bout how things getting bad in Korea because dem exploding bombs. Lewoy never hear bout de Korean War suh he seh that America gun deal wid dem.
One of he confederates tell he how dem Asians don’t tek things light and how America got to be careful. De gyal talk how dem bomb Pearl Harbour. Is then dem boys know how stupid Lewoy stupid.
He ask de gyal wha de lady do dem. De giggle start. “Which Lady?” “Pearl. De one who dem bomb” De laugh get loud. Lewoy ask wha happen. By then dem boys deh pun de floor. Lewoy coulda swear that Pearl Harbour was a woman who dem Asians bomb.
Then dem boys run into Benjie de has-been boxer. He go pun a minibus and he phone drop pun de seat. De bus stop and he come off but as he walking off he see de phone pun de seat. He pick it up and he announce because he want to embarrass somebody.
“Look somebody lef a cheap phone pun de seat.” Everybody watch de phone and feel dem pocket and realize that dem got dem phone. Benjie insist that de driver carry de phone and he can lodge it at de station if he want.
Is when he meet home he realize that he give away he own phone. De cheap phone was he own. De minibus driver was a crook because he keep de phone. Till day like today Benjie still callin’ de number fuh get it back.
Dem boys seh that de minibus driver ain’t de only scamp. Imagine all de time people reading how people robbing taxi drivers. Dem deh hiring taxi and when de driver try fuh go wheh dem order is a gun in he neck. Even woman doing this thing and dem does thief de car.
Well de table tun. Dem boys read how a taxi driver get fed up wid de robber dem suh he decide fuh rob he passengers. Was confusion. De passenger think was joke suh he start laugh. Is when de driver push a gun in he face that de laugh done and de money come out.
But Colin Mack ain’t coming out yet. He can’t laugh. Dem boys sorry fuh he. He can’t even do like dem Guyanese in Barbados. Dem does run as soon as dem see police. Dem does jump through bus window; dem does run and lef dem tools and some of dem does disappear and lef dem wife and children once de immigration tackle.
Dem boys seh that this is not de fuss time. In de old days de immigration people use to wait till Carl Hooper batting. If you see how dem use to flock Kensington Oval. And then dem would start to talk up. “See we boy? Look how he can bat. U-all Bajans ain’t got nutten like that.”
Is then de immigration people does raid. Dem done block up de exits so is no way out. De plane always full de next day. Dem boys seh that de same thing happen in Trinidad. Guyanese like dem cricket and dem does follow de local team.
One particular time, Guyana was beating Trinidad and de Guyanese in de crowd start to jump up. If you see scatter when de immigration people land. But is wheh de people gun run.
Some try fuh scale de fence and get ketch; some talk like Trini and some play sleep. Is only Guyana don’t do that. Dis country does tek in all kind of people and de people does stay as long as dem want, once dem ain’t thief.
Now is problem ahead because when dem Guyanese come and dem can’t get wuk is another story.
