The occupants of this car are lucky to be alive after ending up in this Diamond New Scheme canal while trying to avoid a police patrol.
The crash occurred around 23:45 hrs yesterday.
The patrol had attempted to stop the car after a resident informed the ranks that the two occupants appeared to be acting suspiciously.
On seeing the police, the occupants drove out of the scheme at high speed. However, the driver lost control at a turn and ended up in the canal.
Residents helped pull them to safety.
It turned out that the driver was unlicenced.
The man and another occupant of the car have been detained at the Golden Grove Police Station.
