Graham’s Hall, Strathspey, Beterverwagting (BV) and Mon Repos have all made it to the final round of the Upper and Lower East Coast Demerara Zone in this year’s Al Sport / Ministry of Culture, Youth & Sport (MCYS) Primary Schools Windball Cricket Championships after recording victories yesterday, at the LBI ground.
The four teams will join other schools in the final round to be played tomorrow at the Enmore Community Centre ground.
In the day’s full results:
Graham’s Hall beat Enmore by 29 runs.
Taking first strike, Graham’s Hall posted 65-0 with Shem Wilkie once again among the runs, striking 32, while Totaram Jagdeo supported with 21. In their turn at the crease, Enmore were routed for 36.
Strathspey defeated LBI by 10 wickets.
LBI made 37-7 off the allotted six overs with Orlando Cummings picking up four wickets, which included a hat-trick.
Strathspey replied with 39-0. Cummings returned to hit a top-score of 15.
Girls-
BV then rolled past Graham’s Hall by 11 runs.
BV totalled 42-2 with Shinja Trotman hitting 14. In reply, Graham’s Hall could only muster 31-2 when the overs expired.
Strathspey then made it a double after registering a narrow 4-run win over Enterprise.
Strathspey posted 45-4 off the stipulated overs.
Enterprise were then restricted to 41-5. Amanda Persaud stroked 15 and Daina Hopkinson 14.
Mon Repose won by 15 runs against LBI.
Mon Repos made 49-3 with Kimberley Samad hitting 20. LBI replied with 34-4. Nikita Rodney contributed 13.
Over at the Timehri Red ground.
St. Mary’s defeated Supply by 9 wickets.
Supply made 35-3. St. Mary’s in reply reached 36-1 with Nicolette La Fleur 18 and Donette Dass 12, the principal scorers.
Timehri beat Soesdyke also by 9 wickets.
Soesdyke took first strike and made 36-1 with Sashia Hilliman 12.
Timehri replied with 36-1. Radheka Persaud hit an unbeaten 29.
Boys – Soesdyke beat St. Mary’s by 16 runs.
Soesdyke compiled 72-0 with Shem Lloyd 31 and Ryan Reece 23, the outstanding batsmen.
St. Mary’s reached 56-5. Dhanraj Garbarran contributed 27.
Kuru Kuru eased past Supply by 4 runs.
Kuru Kuru made 84-2 with Kishon Jeffrey stroking an impressive 56 not out.
Supply replied with 80-1. Derrick Cozier slammed 63 not out.
Camille’s Institute beat Timehri by 9 wickets.
Timehri closed on 36-5. Camille’s Institute in reply, made 37-1.
