Rising Sun Turf Club ready for Sunday’s Meet

Over 50 of the country’s leading horses have taken entry for the one day race meet organised by the Rising Sun Turf Club, in collaboration with the Brotherhood of St Andrew in the Anglican Diocese, for Sunday at their racetrack.

Among the top contenders for the attractive cash prizes and trophies on offer; are Delmur Gold, Sequins, Miss Republic, Jumbo Joy, Tropical Passion, Finishing Touch, Too Straight, Illogical, Sweet Caramel, Sweet Romance, Coconut Boy, Alphabet, Prixie Fire, Lady of My Dreams, Laura Lee in Flight, Kavinci, The Gap, Prospectors Pride, Vanessa, Casino Royal, Night Crescendo, Mystic, Natural Black and War Path. Over $2.5M is up for grabs.

Highlighting the day’s programme will be the feature B class event sponsored by Banks DIH Limited over a distance of 1400m where a whopping $300,000 is available for the winner. The 3 years old open 1100m sprint has $200,000 as first prize. In the E and lower even there is $160,000 available for the winner and the distance is also 1100m.

The G and lower 1400m gallop has a first prize of $100,000. The ‘I and lower 1100m race has $90,000 as the top prize. The J and K sprint will go for a distance of 1100m, with a purse of $80,000, while the L class 1100m dash will see the winner collecting $75,000.

Race time is 13.30 hrs. The champion jockey and trainer will receive trophies, compliments of Ramesh Sunich of Trophy Stall, Bourda market. The organisers have done a tremendous amount of work to make the track and the facilities among the best in the country and race fans are assured of watching the events in comfort.

Horse owners are reminded to get their horses registered with the Guyana Horse Racing Authority. Animals not properly entered will be barred from participating.
