The semi-finals of the Kool Kidz Inter Secondary Schools Twenty20 tournament have been decided, following the quarter-final playoffs.
J C Chandisingh, Berbice High, Tagore Memorial and Port Mourant booked their places in the competition, which is sponsored by the Guyana Beverage Company and organised by the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club.
At the Port Mourant ground, JC Chandisingh defeated Winifred Gaskin by 9 wickets. Winifred Gaskin were bowled out for 50 in 14.5 overs; Kevin Hardat hit 25. Shameer Shailendra took 3-6, Lloyd Lewis 2-8 and Arif Chan 2-9.
JC Chandisingh replied with 54-1; Kandasammy Surujnarine 22 not out and Karamchand Mahadai 20 not out were the main contributors.
Over at the Area ‘H’ ground, Port Mourant defeated Canje by 21 runs.
Port Mourant made 104-4 in 20 overs; Sharaz Ramcharran top scored with 42; Collis Cort made 30 not out. Niall Smith claimed 2-20. Canje were limited to 83-7 in 20 overs. Totaram Sooknanan 21 amd Damion Barry 20, were the principal scorers. Jamal Brusche 2-7 and Clifford Wong 2-15 were the chide wicket-takers.
At the Berbice High School ground, the home team defeated New Amsterdam Multilateral School by 27 runs.
BHS hit 159-7 off 20 overs; Balram Balkissoon contributed 53, Richard Davman 26 and Lancelot Benn 34. New Amsterdam could only manage 132-9, when their 20 overs expired. Suresh Dhaniram hit 33 and Steve Dhani 16. among the wickets were Judason Bess 4-36, R. Duggins 3 for 24 and B. Balkissoon 2-25.
And at the Tagore Memorial ground, Tagore Memorial defeated Skeldon High by 5 wickets.
Skeldon were dismissed for 70 in 15 overs; Navin Mohan 19. Ravi Persaud 3-16 and Suresh Pomesh 3-18 were the outstanding performers. Tagore Memorial replied with 72-5 in 13.5 overs; Ravi Persaud led the batting with 21. Nicholai Ceres claimed 2-7.
The semi-finals are scheduled for Friday with JC Chandisingh facing Tagore Memorial at the Port Mourant Community Centre ground, while Berbice High travel to the Area ‘H’ ground to take on the Port Mourant.
