Sport Minister Dr, Frank Anthony (R) hands over the equipment to President’s College student Gina Chin.
Basketball and volleyball players of President’s College profited from the munificence of the National Sports Commission (NSC) after being presented with a basketball backboard, basketball and volleyball, during a simple ceremony which was conducted in the office of Sport Minister Dr. Frank Anthony last Friday.
According to Director of Sport Neil Kumar, the presentation of the equipment was in keeping with a promise he made to 20 learning institutions during the staging of the last schools’ tournament.
Dr. Anthony in brief remarks said that he had always heard the cry of lack of equipment to develop sports and after careful research he realised that complaint had some merit so they decided to offer their assistance.
“We cannot change everything overnight, but today we’ve made a start and I would like to make an appeal to all former students to assist us in helping to return sports to schools.”
Kumar urged the girls to become involved in sports and extended an invitation to offer the Commission’s support to them.
Representing the College were House Parent Nazmoon Badal and students Gina Chin and Renauto Ferdinand.
