MSC, GNIC register wins

Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) and GNIC registered victories in the latest round of the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) Cellink Plus two-day first division cricket competition.
MSC had a come-from-behind nine-wicket victory against GCC at MSC, while GNIC raced to an eight-wicket win against Police as MSC maintained their lead in the competition.
Sauid Drepaul, Wazeer Mohamed and Steven Jacobs scored centuries while Berbician left-arm spinner Damien Vantull continued his fine season with the ball as he hopes to get into the Demerara team by taking 7-73 for MSC.
At MSC, the host resumed the final day on 108-2 replying to GCC’s 321 and declared at 352-9 with Jacobs hitting his fifth division one ton (122) and second for the year, while Deon Ferrier made 80, Jeremiah Harris (31), Randy Lindore (29) and Sarfraz Esau (24) offered support. Treon Forde, Leon Johnson and Joshua Wade took two wickets each for GCC.
GCC fell for 101 in their second innings despite 47 from Wasim Haslim as Vantull ripped through the batting order and got support from Orin Forde (2-31).
MSC reached 75-1 with Jacobs (30) and Imran Hassan (31) being the not out batsmen.
At Police, GNIC resumed on 135-4 replying to the Cops’ 200 and were dismissed for 326 with Rayon Griffith (73), Clyde Butts (59) and Collis Butts (48) batting well as Gravesande and Ricardo took three wickets each and Vishal Jaigobin two for Police, who were bowled out for 195 with Regan Rodrigues (78*) and Troy Benn (32) leading the way with the bat.
Keno Alphonso and Clyde and Collis Butts captured three wickets each for GNIC who were set 70 to win in 12 overs.
Clyde Butts (32*) and Quincy Ovid-Richardson (31) helped GINC to 75-2 in eight overs. Dexter Southwell took two wickets in a losing effort.
At DCC, GDF started the last day on 9-1 replying to DCC’s 196 and fell for 192 with Vickram Singh making 61 and Paul Castello 36. Chris Barnwell took three wickets and Omesh Dhanram and Leroy Primo two each for DCC who declared at 183-5 in their second innings. Derwin Christian made 75 and Uton Monroe 67 for the hosts
GDF were 94-4 in their second innings with Singh unbeaten on 39. Kester Harcourt took two wickets.
At Everest, the host resumed on 187-4 replying to Transport Sports Club’s (TSC) 144 and declared at 355-6 with Drepaul making 107. National Under-15 player Chanderpaul Hemraj fell three short of his maiden century as Olyson Batson took two wickets for TSC who were 224-3 in their second innings with Mohamed (104*) hitting his maiden first division hundred. He shared in a century partnership with Carl Rambharose who made 55 not out after Steven Alves had scored 44.
The competition continues on Saturday.
