President of the Guyana Teachers’ Union, Colwyn King, said that he is awaiting a full report from the teacher of the Berbice High School who was slapped in the face by a student.
According to King once the report would have been submitted to him the Union would investigate.
King said that as far as he knows the teacher involved in the incident is performing as normal and so are her colleagues at the school.
In the meantime this newspaper has learnt that the student who was only suspended from school for three days, is back at school, and so is the teacher.
This newspaper was also told that the police are involved as statements have been taken form the teacher.
Some two weeks ago the teacher suffered a concussion and was forced to leave the school for medical attention after the student at around midday,slapped her behind her ear.
Initial reports stated that the teacher who teaches Accounts and Information Technology was speaking to another student when the third form student came up from behind and dealt her a slap behind her ear and ran away.
