The parents of a missing 17-year-old boy, Mark Lawrence, are calling on the police to intensify their search for him, as they fear that something is terribly wrong with him.
The boy’s mother, Indranie, told Kaieteur News yesterday that her son has been missing for the past two months, and that the police are nowhere closer to finding him.
She said that on March 16, last, her son left home on Fort Island, Essequibo River with a friend from the community identified as Anand, to visit Bartica.
However, according to the woman, the friend came back after two weeks, wearing her son’s clothes.
When she enquired from him the whereabouts of her son, he told her that her son is safe and that she should not worry.
The woman said that her son would never leave the house for more than two days and she finds it strange that it is more than two months since he has gone missing without even contacting the family.
“I don’t know where my son is and everyday I cry fountain of tears for him,” Indranie said.
She noted that a report was made at the Parika Police Station, but the ranks at that station have not been able to acquire transportation to take them into the Fort Island community to question the friend.
The woman is of the view that the friend, Anand, has some knowledge about the whereabouts of her son, but he refuses to divulge it for some reason.
She noted that the only way he would speak the truth is if the police take him into custody and interrogate him.
The mother of four is urging the police to seriously investigate the matter seriously, as it involves the life of her son.
