The 35 players called by the Guyana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) to prepare for the upcoming NAWIRA Under-19 Championship qualifier for the IRB U-20, 2010 World Trophy to be staged in the Cayman Islands from July 4-10 commenced training yesterday at the National Park.
The sessions are being conducted by Head Coach Laurie Adonis and his assistant Theodore Henry and are being held on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Coach Adonis speaking with Kaieteur Sport said that even though it is the first day of practice, he envisages that the sessions will be affected a bit by the absence of a few players who are currently preparing for the CXC examinations, but was optimistic that the turnout will surpass 80%.
Those called are: Richard Coates, Treon Emptage, Soren Cox, Gordon Andrews, Lancelot Adonis, Jermaine Abel, Clinton Mars, Rudolph Ogle, Jamaal Yarde, Rondell McArthur, Terry Adams, Allain Crawford, Ryan Dojoy, Colin Billingy, Quincy Jones, Yannick Jones, Rickford Cummings, Gavin Thompson, Javier Butcher, Lloydan Layne, Clive Richmond, Kevon Campbell, Trevor Mathieson, Mark Sobers, Jermaine Jacobs, Joseph Weatherspoon, Rupert Giles Nicholas Northey, Henry Jordan, Dennis Alexander, Claude Alexander, Christopher Nicholas, Vallon Adams, Twain Hemerding and Mark Massiah.
