Defending champions Corentyne Comprehensive were knocked out of the 2009 Kool Kidz Inter Secondary School Twenty20 tournament by 4 wickets as the hands of arch rivals J. C. Chandisingh (JCC) at the Port Mourant Community Centre ground.
Corentyne, batting first, were bowled out for 87 in 19 overs. Bojnarine Persaud and Shawn Pereira were the top scorers with 18 and 17 respectively. Lloydel Lewis snared 4-11, Shailendra Shameer 3-12 and Arif Chand 2-23. JCC in reply eased to 91-6 off 18.2 overs; Karanchand Mohabir hit 30 and Mefron Williams 21. Pereira took 2-29. At the Skeldon ground, Skeldon High defeated Line Path by 16 runs.
Skeldon High 112-8 in overs, Marvin Harvey 50 not out (5×4, 1×6), Kevin Grimmond 27; Peter Narine 2-10. Line Path were limited to 96-8 when their overs ran out. Ganesh Ramdehol was unbeaten on 27 with Sasenarine Singh hitting 22. Neil Braithwaite and Grimmond took 2 wickets each.
Over at the Area ‘H’ ground, Port Mourant got the better of Lower Corentyne by 8 wickets. Lower Corentyne took first strike and were restricted to 48-8 in their 20 overs. Jamal Jarvis returned the miserly figures of 3-2, Gudakesh Motie Kanhai supported with 2-9.
Port Mourant blazed to 50-2 off 9 overs with Jamal Brusche and Clifford Wong not out on 20 each. Winifred Gaskin humbled Black Bush Polder by 5 wickets.
Black Bush were bowled out for 118 in 19.5 overs, with Lalta Paltu making 36 and Ramesh Matadin 22. Neil Pike grabbed 3-20. Winifred Gaskin achieved victory reaching 120-5 with 6 balls to spare. Marlon Mickle 30 and Neil Pike 25 were the top scorers for the winners.
Canje won a cliff hanger against Vrymen’s Erven by a single run in a super over after the game ended in a tie. Scores in the match: Canje Secondary 87–8, extras top scored with 52. Thandewar Ramdeen picked up 3-10.
Vrymen’s Erven top scorer was Quancy Kendall with 22 and Rawey George 19. Totaram Sooknanand 3-20 and Neil Smith 3–27. In the super over Vryman’s Erven reached 7-1, Canje responded with 8- 0.
Tagore Memorial High got past Central Corentyne by 35 runs. Tagore memorial 153-3: Imran Yacoob 56 not out, Ryan Ayanah 49. Central Corentyne were bowled out for 118 off 19.3 overs. Videsh Hall hit 27 and Kenneth Ramnarine 20. Shiv Satesh took 3-13 and K. Parman 3-12.
And Berbice High thumped Tutorial Academy by 61 runs. Berbice High posted 144-6 off their 20 overs compliments of P. Cort’s unbeaten 47 and Shimron Hetmeyer’s 20. Andy Jairam took 2-19 for Tutorial Academy who were sent packing for 83 off 16 overs. Trevor Henry top scored with 35 while Kevon Jawahir grabbed 3-10, U. Imrit 3-24 and Judason Bess 2-12.
