A 20- year-old woman was another victim of one of the many accidents on East Coast Demerara on Sunday night.
Bethel Braithwaite was waiting for transportation when a car, which spun out of control after it was struck by another vehicle, hit her.
Up to late last night, she was receiving treatment at the Accident and Emergency Unit of the Georgetown and was still unable to walk.
Her father, Lennox Braithwaite, told this newspaper that he had just left his daughter on the Better Hope public road when he heard the crash.
When he looked back, his daughter was on the ground and two cars that were proceeding in the opposite direction had come to a halt beside her.
The car that struck the woman had its back axle ripped out.
Lennox Braithwaite said that one of the drivers appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and took a while to emerge from his vehicle.
The injured woman was subsequently transported to the hospital while police investigated the accident.
