A 62-year-old Princes Street resident was yesterday charged with the murder of Kanhai’s Security guard Patricia Rose.
Hubert George was not required to plead before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson. It was alleged that George killed Patricia Rose.
When asked by the Magistrate if he had anything to say the feeble looking man said, “The only thing that I have to say is that I’m not guilty.” The Magistrate promptly told him that he could not plead in the Magistrate’s Court.
Police Prosecutor Denise Griffith told the court that Rose was stabbed on November 1, last year and was hospitalised. Griffith further stated that she was readmitted to the hospital this year after she suffered complications and subsequently died at the hospital on May 8.
George was remanded to prison and is expected to make another court appearance on July 3.
The accused was captured four days after Rose succumbed at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Patricia Rose, an employee of Kanhai’s Security Service, was stabbed on November 1, 2008 while on duty at the Georgetown School of Nursing in East Street.
That attack added to the growing list of fatal cases of domestic violence, which have occurred.
