Alpha ‘The Hammer’ United continued their good showing in the Georgetown Football Association, (GFA), GT&T Cellink Plus sponsored Premier League, football championships at the Tucville ground.
Last Sunday evening they defeated Sunburst Camptown 4-nil to register their third win from as many matches in the tournament. Dwight Peters opened Alpha’s account with a 26th minute effort.
One minute later, Quincy Madramootoo pasted the Camptown custodian to send his team ahead, 2-nil.
Shawn Bishop soon joined the party and registered the third Alpha goal in the 57th minute before Peters returned in the 88th minute to seal the deal for his team.
Earlier in the night, Western Tigers FC rose from its dismal position of 2 losses from as many encounters to register a win against village team, Flamingo. Devon Millington scored a double in the 62nd and 68th minutes while Ned Fraser closed off the Flamingos with a 72nd minute effort.
Eight teams are competing for top honours in the tournament and so far the GDF and Alpha United lead the standing with 3 wins from as many matches. Conquerors FC have won 2 matches but conceded one while Camptown, with the loss last Sunday evening, moves to 2 wins with a loss.
The Georgetown Football Club is yet to register a win after playing two matches while Pele have lost twice while chalking up a win.
The tournament continues this weekend with another exciting double-header at the Tucville Ground.
