A taxi driver from Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo received a gunshot wound on his left hand during a scuffle with a bandit who robbed him of his jewellery on Saturday night.
Police in a press release stated that at around 20:45 hours, Fazil Alli was hired by a man to go to Tuschen where he was held at gunpoint and robbed of his personal jewellery.
During the robbery, a struggle ensued between Alli and the gunman who discharged some rounds, one of which struck Alli.
The man subsequently escaped. Alli is receiving medical attention.
