Showtime, Crane Rovers collide for title today

Showtime and Crane Rovers made it out of the semi-finals rounds of the Harvest time Church Inter-Village football championship contested at the West Demerara Secondary School ground on Friday.
Showtime defeated Goed Fortuin on penalty kicks to advance to the final. The scores were level at 2-2, after regulation and extra time, and penalty kicks had to separate the teams. A. Harding scored for Goed Fortuin, while A. Giddings replied for Showtime to see the scores locked at the end of regulation time.
In extra time, G. Todd fired Showtime in the lead, Nigel Garraway negated that advantage for Goed Fortuin to push the game to spot kicks.
In the second semi-final Crane Rovers beat Den Amstel 2-1 in extra time after the scores were level at 1-1 at the end of regulation time.
Clement Brown netted for Crane Rovers, but Den Amstel equalised through Prince Payne to push the contest into extra time.  Severn Austin put Rovers in the lead for good from the penalty spot after an opposing player committed an infringement in the penalty box.
The winners, Rovers and Showtime, will collide today for the championship. A keen contest is anticipated.
