Dear Editor,
I wish to congratulate ECHO on its initiative to take climate change to our primary schools. I always wondered why nobody has ever thought about that.
It is a marvelous thing when you really think about it. These children are at the stage when they can start paying attention to the environment and their general surroundings.
I am very anxious to see those little ones wearing their badges and taking on their big job to keep their surroundings in their school yards clean.
Many teachers would probably get a little ease from the stress of seeing litter all over the compound.
I live very near to a school and it is terrible to see the condition of that school yard.
The children need to be challenged to do better and to be more environmentally consciousness.
I only hope that other schools would be included in this initiative so that we can protect the environment.
I feel that everyone should support this climate change programme in our schools in whatever way they can.
Anita James
