Teenage prisoner scales Camp Street prison fence

Theon Branche, the teenager who was recently jailed for several years for a spate of armed robberies, was said to be nursing serious injuries last night after a foiled escape bid from the Georgetown Prison.

Sources within the prison said that Branche slipped into the prison compound around 18:00 hrs while meals were being served and scaled the eastern fence, which is topped with razor wire. Kaieteur News understands that the youth then ran east along D’Urban Street, but was recaptured shortly after.

A source said that Branche was badly slashed by the razor wire and also sustained other injuries, which appeared to be serious.
He was reportedly placed in solitary confinement.
