Asraphudeen Sattaur, formerly Head of the Operations Department of Esso Guyana Ltd, died on Wednesday. He was 54.
For over 20 years he served with Esso (Guyana). The last place he worked was North American Resources where he was a Manager.
He was also employed at the Ministry of Works (Plant Hire and Maintenance Department) in the early 80’s as a specialist Engineer.
Asraph, as he was fondly known to most of his friends, was born on March 15, 1955. He attended Queen’s College where he obtained a conditional scholarship from the Government of Guyana to study Mechanical Engineering at University of the West Indies (Mona Campus).
His friends and colleagues would remember Asraph as an avid singer with both live bands and at karaoke.
He was the brother of Khurshid Sattaur, Commissioner-General of the Guyana Revenue Authority. Two other siblings survive him. He was married and fathered two children.
