Play in the 12th Edition of the Annual National Primary Schools Windball cricket competition begun recently with a number of matches at various venues throughout the country.
The six overs competition is organised by the AL Sport & Tour Promotions.
Results of games played so far are as follows:
At Wales Community Centre Ground in Region Three –
Girls’ category –
Two Brothers defeated La Grange by eight wickets.
La Grange made 29-2, Danielle Braithwaite 14 not out.
Two Brothers in reply 30-2, Shondel Peters 19; Braithwaite 2-4
Defending champions Mc Gillivry recorded a last ball win over La Retraite.
La Retraite scored 35-5; Sarah Mohan 2-15.
Mc Gillivary replied with 36-5; Retita Burnett 2-11.
In the Boys’ competition
Mc Gillivary whipped La Grange by 10 wickets.
La Grange 20-8. Bowling for Mc Gillivry Seon Chappell had figures of 5-3 including the first hat-trick in the 2009 championship; Travis Persaud had 2-10.
Mc Gillivary replied with 22-0.
La Retraite defeated Two Brothers by four wickets.
Two Brothers batted first and scored 62-1 with Elvis Trotman 31and Joel Tamesar 25, being the principal scorers.
La Retraite in reply responded with 65-6 with Keon Dowridge 20.
Over in East Berbice at the Rose Hall Community Centre ground in East Canje
In Girls action –
Cumberland and Bohemia played to and exciting tie.
Cumberland batted first and reached 29-0 with Sarah Baker 18 not out.
Bohemia in reply also reached 29-0 with Celeen Ramdeo also scoring an undefeated18.
St Aloysius defeated St Therese’s by 9 wickets.
St Therese’s made 21-2. St Aloysius 22-1in reply.
Betsy Ground beat Rose Hall Estate by 9 wickets.
Rose Hall Estate reached 36-1.
Betsy Ground 37-1 in reply, Mohanie Singh 17.
St. Aloysius beat All Saints by 19 runs.
St Aloysius compiled 48-2 with Odeiha Coxal 19.
All Saints were restricted to 31-1
In the Boys division –
Cumberland defeated Rose Hall Estate by 17 runs.
Cumberland made 58-4, Kassin Khan 29 not out. Bowling for Rose Hall, Ryan Sooklall had 2 wickets.
Rose Hall in reply could only score 41-8. Bowling for Cumberland Khan picked up a tournament best so far of 6-7.
All Saints 32-0 Quinn Hazel 16 defeated Betsy Ground Primary 31-7. Bowling for All Saints Clifton Lindi 3-12, Anthony Fraser 2-2 and Junior Batswain 2-3 shared the wickets.
Bohemia 40-3 lost to St Aloysius 43-1 with Jomaul Butts scoring 28.
Over at the Uitvlugt Community Centre on the West Coast of Demerara
In the Girls section –
Leonora 33-2 with Tasleema Bacchus 24 won from Greenwich Park 22-4. Chitia Surujballie & Tasleema Bacchus had 2 wickets each bowling for the winners.
Zeelugt 20-2 lost to Cornelia Ida Primary who made 21-1.
In a semi final match – Leonora 40-3, with Tasleema Bacchus 22 won from
Uitvlugt, who make 25-6, Cindy Surujballie grabbed 3 wickets, while Bacchus supported with 2.
In the Boys division –
Cornelia Ida 58-3 beat Uitvlugt 49-4.
Zeelugt Primary 40-5, Alex Persaud 1-2; Daniel Sanka 2-18 Bowling for Meten Meer Zorg who in reply made 45-1with Daniel Sankar making 37.
Saraswat 40-5 lost to Stewartville Primary 44-2.
In the final game Grenwich Park and Meten-Meer-Zorg played to a tie.
Greenwich Park made 52 all out Meten Meer Zorg replied with 52 all out.
Play was expected to continue yesterday at Bush Lot Farm Ground on the Corentyne and at the Wales Community Centre Ground.
The competition continues on May 18, at the Skeldon Community Centre. Albion Sports Complex & the National Gymnasium will see action again on May19, while May 20th Unity Lancaster Community Centre will have their share of matches.
The Enmore Community Centre will be the venue for matches on the 21st May.
