The Rose Hall Town Windies Sports Bar and Young Warriors Cricket Club will clash in the final of the 1st ever ABS 40-Over, First Division tournament organised by the Berbice Cricket Board on Sunday.
The match is scheduled for the Canje Welfare Ground and promises to be a thriller, as the arch-rivals over the years have always produced high quality cricket whenever they collide.
Rose Hall Town Windies Sports Bar would be led by National middle-order batsman Assad Fudadin who spearheads a batting order that includes veteran Andre Percival, Khemraj Mahadeo, Renwick Batson, Jason Sinclair, Michael Hicks and Eon Hooper.
The bowling would be spin biased in the absence of National pacer Esuan Crandon, who is competing in the WIPA Twenty/20 Tournament in Trinidad. Off spinners Percival, Troy Mathieson, Mahadeo, Fudadin and Hooper, along with leg spinner Ravi Narine with support from medium pacers Renwick Batson and Terrence Madramootoo.
Young Warriors will have National Under-19 Coach Hubern Evans at the helm. He would be supported by Balram Samaroo, Farouk Hussain, Gajanand Singh, Anil Beharry, Randolph Baker and Ishwar Singh in a strong batting order. Pacers Kwesi Maltay and Devindra Ramoutar lead the bowling attack with support from off spinners Evans, Hussain, Daryl Narine, Samaroo and leg spinner Beharry.
The winning team would receive $50, 000 and a trophy, while the runners-up get $25 000.00.
There would also be prizes for Man-of-the-Final, Most Runs and Most Wickets. Managing Director of Associated Business Services (ABS) Martin Singh will meet the teams before the start of the contest. Umpires are Clement Brusche, Mahendra Singh and Jai Hardeo.
