Magistrate Faith Mc Gusty fined Keith Da Silva, of Lima Village, Essequibo Coast, who admitted to stealing electricity, $15,000.
Da Silva was charged with fraudulently diverting electricity.
When the matter came up in the Suddie Magistrate’s Court, Da Silva pleaded guilty with an explanation. He told the court on Easter Monday last, he was hired by a couple to operate his music system at the Lima seawall.
He added that he, not being an electrician, tampered with the Guyana Power and Light main line by attaching an extra piece of wire to his system box. Magistrate Mc Gusty then proceeded to ask Da Silva how much he was paid to do the job .Da Silva replied saying he was given $15,000.
She then told him not to commit the same act then fined him.
