He may be heading for his twilight years but Rudolph Mitchell continues to overwhelm the competition, zeroing in on the 100th race, unbeaten streak.
The prolific race walk king blew away his archrivals, Jonathon Fagundes and Jeremy Cornelius, to register his 88th win.
For his efforts he received the Ministry of Housing and Water, Irfaan Ali trophy in the Arrival Day, 6 laps event, plus bragging rights, when the Cavalier’s Sports and Tour Club staged that event at the inner circuit of the National Park, Tuesday morning last.
Fagundes and Cornelius occupied the second and third places, respectively while O’Neil Joseph finished in fourth place.
A thrilling encounter ensued in the veterans’ category with the elder Fagundes, Maurice, and Andre Cain sharing the top position after a hectic encounter where they both braced the tape simultaneously.
The contestants received prizes donated by Mr Irfaan Ali, Dr Richard Van West Charles, Office of the President and Go Invest.
