Police in Berbice have captured three members of a four-man gang that attacked a Number 81 Village, Corentyne business place on Saturday night.
The men were caught while they were still wearing their facemasks and had a .38 revolver in their possession.
According to the police, about 19:45 hours, businessman Chan Lalta, his wife and four customers were attacked and robbed by four masked men armed with two handguns and two cutlasses.
The men entered the Lalta’s business, Dutchie’s Restaurant and Bar, and held up the victims.
They then took away a quantity of jewellery, four cell phones, and a total of $64,000 before escaping.
However, they did not cater for members of an alert police patrol who were in the vicinity.
They responded promptly and arrested two of the men about 80 yards from the scene.
An unlicensed .38 revolver with six matching rounds were recovered from one of the men.
Further investigations led to the arrest of another suspect at No. 79 Village, Corentyne.
