The Bartica Football Association (BFA) season will officially open on Sunday May 24 with the commencement of the Senior and Under-15 Leagues.
Boss Mining will sponsor the senior league and the champion team will collect a set of uniforms, a trophy, and $100,000 while the runner-up will get a set of uniforms and $75,000. The third placed side will receive $50,000.
In addition to a special spectator prise, incentives will be up for grabs for the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the competition, the highest goal scorer and the most disciplined team.
An Opening Ceremony and March past will officially start the tournament and eight club teams are expected to participate. These clubs include Wolves United, Beacons FC, Lazio, Rising Stars, Rivers View and a Brazilian combination.
According to the BFA, the association is awaiting confirmation of other teams and added that a number of sponsors have already pledged support for other competitions which will commence in the near future.
